Tassels date back
to as early
as 330 AD., and their use
throughout the centuries and
in many cultures signified many
different things. In biblical
times, tassels were worn to
show religious conviction.
Over time, the meaning of
adornment with tassels
changed, from warding off
malevolent spirits, to being
worn as symbols of royalty,
rank, wealth, power,
education, and social prestige. |

Fleur de lis
Four stylized fleurs-de-lis (lily
flowers) decorate the four
corners of this baroque gold
metal pendant, with four
capped tassels draped below
the pendant. The pendant is
attached on both sides to a
substantial 16" textured gold
tone Prince of Wales chain
(8"drop) Pendant is 6" by 6"
and each tassel an additional
4". The finish on this
pre-owned pendant is worn
off on some edges, and there
is a small crack in the metal
near the top middle (it's not
that noticeable, but does
cause a need for care in
handling). |
Historically, fleurs-de-lis were
heraldic symbols on coats of
arms representing
dynasties/kingdoms and
heritage; on city emblems,
such as Paris; and in France,
the three petals represented
the medieval social classes:
those who worked, those who
fought, and those who prayed. |

We envision Space ice and
solar dust. As a comet of
ice is ejected from the
Oort Cloud and enters
spinning and tumbling into
the Solar System, the
radiation from the sun
evaporates the ice and solar
winds blow the dust away
from the head of the comet,
creating the dust tail.
