Heishi beads date back to
ancient history. They were
much prized, used for trade,
and made from a variety of
natural materials such as
bone, shell and semi-precious
stones. Handcrafting heishi
beads is a painstaking,
laborious, and somewhat
hazardous process. A high-
quality heishi necklace should

serpent-like piece when gently
